Pulse Survey – International Tax Assistance

Tax liabilities when moving from one country to another can be complex. Most companies provide relocating employees with professional assistance to advise of the potential tax consequences, prepare required tax filings, and/or provide some form of protection from tax liabilities that arise from the payment of taxable relocation expenses.

International tax assistance is widely considered to be a compliance-based benefit, often categorized similarly to immigration requirements, and most employers currently provide professional support to affected employees.

The survey and corresponding results provide general benchmarking data regarding companies’ international tax assistance practices for long-term assignments (generally greater than one year), short-term assignments (generally less than one year), and permanent transfers (one-way moves by which employees are hired locally and remain in the new work country temporarily or indefinitely).
